Is it common?

The UK Stroke Association says that ‘one person every five minutes will have a stroke’.  Stroke is most common in developed countries and 0.2 per cent of our population suffers a stroke each year. In England and Wales, this means that approximately 110,000 people every year will have their first ever stroke.

Stroke is more common in people over the age of 60 but one-third of people who have a stroke are of working age and in rare situations stroke can even effect children and babies.
